When I start seeing candy canes on the store shelves I begin craving peppermint flavored coffee drinks. I know I can get the drinks at a local coffee shop all year round, but they just seem to taste better when the Christmas countdown begins.
This year I decided to save a little money and brew my own homemade peppermint coffee syrup. I wanted to keep it simple, yet still deliver the bright peppermint flavor I so craved.
Finely crush five peppermint candy canes.
Once the sugar and candy canes have melted down, continue stirring and bring the syrup to a boil. Allow to boil for a couple of minutes And then remove syrup from the heat.
- 1 1/2 cups sugar
- 5 Peppermint Candy Canes (about a 1/2 cup crushed)
- 2 cups water
